WIC

WIC is a health and nutrition program for eligible pregnant women, postpartum women, breastfeeding women, infants, and children up to age 5 who are at nutritional risk. The program is available to families with low to moderate income, including those who are working or unemployed. Medicaid and SNAP participants automatically qualify for the program. Fathers and guardians may also apply for WIC benefits on behalf of their children.

Office Information: Contact the Estill County Health Department WIC Program, or another WIC location serving your area, to ask about eligibility and how to apply. You may be asked to provide proper identification, proof of residence, and household income information to determine whether you meet program guidelines.

WIC supports women, infants, and children who have medical or nutritional needs by providing nutrition education, healthy food benefits, and referrals to health care and community services.

You may qualify for WIC if you:

  • Are pregnant, breastfeeding, or postpartum
  • Have an infant or child under age 5
  • Have low income or no income
  • Have a nutrition or health concern

WIC may provide eligible participants with:

  • Nutritious foods to help supplement the diet
  • Information and support for healthy eating
  • Referrals to health care and other helpful services

Applicants who qualify will complete a simple health and diet screening to help identify nutritional or health needs and determine appropriate WIC services.

The letter must contain the complainant’s name, address, telephone number, and a written description of the alleged discriminatory action in sufficient detail to inform the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights (ASCR) about the nature and date of an alleged civil rights violation. The completed AD-3027 form or letter must be submitted to USDA by:
